Bees wear their lifejackets too! This swarm was located at the New Galena Boat Ramp at Alum Creek Lake. The bees swarm together to protect the queen bee and keep her warm as they build a nest for the season. If you locate a swarm in your area that poses a safety concern you can call your county extension or local bee keeping society to have it safely removed. Do not kill the bees as they are a great pollinator and an important part of our local agriculture

It takes a huge effort to oversee the
Burnsville Lake project, but Resource
Manager Richard Pingley wouldn't have
it any other way. He takes great pride in
this central West Virginia project so highly
regarded for its well-maintained camping
facilities, abundant water-based recreation,
and its Bulltown Historic Area - the site
of a famous Civil War battle listed on the
National Register of Historic Places.
