Clean Sweep at Dewey Lake

A group of 275 volunteers gathered at Dewey Lake in Kentucky on March 15, 2014, to take part in the annual "Operation Clean Sweep" event.

Volunteers collected 32 tires, filled 347 garbage bags, and gathered 7,700 pounds of large debris.

The volunteers were treated to a complimentary cookout courtesy of the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park. Several door prizes were raffled off to the participating volunteers.

The groups taking part included the Corps of Engineers, Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, Friends of Dewey Lake, Kinzer Foundation, Pepsi Bottling Group of Pikeville, Carl D. Perkins Job Corps, Big Sandy Community and Technical College, The Maytown Center, Lonesome Pine District Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts of Kentucky Wilderness Road Council, The Ransomed Riders Chapter 964, City of Prestonsburg, Apple Valley Sanitation, Younce Septic Service, Hospice of the Bluegrass, WMDJ, and Shirt Gallery.
