Notice is given that on or about 12 December 2011, Amherst Madison, Inc., for Marathon Petroleum, will begin placing river bank slope protection along the left descending bank on the Ohio River, mile 316.4.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Deer Creek Lake has started its annual "draw down" or lowering of the water level in the lake. The surface elevation of the lake will be lowered 14 feet to reach winter pool on Dec. 1, 2011.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed the inspection of the intake gates on the dam at Summersville Lake and is beginning to refill the lake to its normal winter pool elevation.

Corps to hold office hours for Zoar Levee
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold office hours for residents of Zoar, Ohio, to discuss the Zoar Levee Dam Safety Modification Study, on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Corps employees will be available between the hours of 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Dover Dam Resident Engineer's Office across from the Muskingum Area Office, 5336 State Route 800, NE, Dover, Ohio.
The Corps is conducting the Dam Safety Modification Study to recommend a risk reduction plan for the Zoar Levee and Diversion Dam. The Water Resources Development Act of 2007 requires that the study look at a variety of alternatives – including structural and non-structural measures.
The public's participation is essential and necessary in order to provide information to help determine the best plan to reduce risk. These office hours will provide additional opportunities for the residents of Zoar to discuss issues and exchange information and ideas.

Corps welcomes secretaries to Executive Office
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has selected two new secretaries in the Executive Office. Helen D. Kremer has been named the new Executive Secretary to Commander Colonel Robert Peterson. Bridgette Lewis-Johnson was selected as a secretary in the Executive Office.
As secretary to the Commander, Kremer is responsible for providing administrative support and overall office management for the Huntington District Commander, Executive Office and staff.
A native of Washington, D.C., Kremer attended Montgomery Junior College in Silver Springs, Md., She is a retired Navy yeoman first class and attended numerous military training courses. She began her career with the Corps in October 2005, where she worked for the Tulsa District until 2009. Prior to accepting her position with the Huntington District, Kremer worked for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Tulsa. Throughout her federal career, Kremer has received several military commendations and achievement medals.
As secretary in the Executive Office, Lewis-Johnson provides secretarial and administrative support to the executive staff.
A native of Proctorville, Ohio, Lewis-Johnson graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Management from Huntington Junior College. She began her career with the Corps in 2009. Prior to joining the Executive Office, Lewis-Johnson worked in the Ohio/Kanawha Area Office and served as administrative assistant for the Chief of Design Branch in the Huntington District. She has received several awards for her work on the Combined Federal Campaign, Awards Committee, and special recognitions from the district commander.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntington District has awarded a $1.1 million contract to TAB Construction, of Canton, Ohio, to begin construction work at Massillon Levee, located in the City of Massillon, Stark County, Ohio.
The contractor will begin construction on or about August 18, 2011. Work will consist of placing stone along the riverbank and levee to address erosion concerns caused by recent flooding. Additional work includes tree removal near the levee and investigation of the drainage system. The contractor expects the work to be completed by April 1, 2012, depending on weather conditions.
During construction, the Congressman Ralph Regula Towpath Trail and the right south bound lane of State Route 21 will be temporarily closed. Travelers in the area can expect increased traffic due to construction vehicles, lane closures, congestion, and new traffic signals.
Massillon levee and channel relocation project was authorized by the Flood Control Act of 1938, for the purpose of reducing flooding from the Tuscarawas River. It was completed in 1951.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va....Dams and reservoirs within the Huntington District are holding back significant floodwaters resulting from the substantial amount of rainfall throughout the district's 45,000 square-mile area. These dams have performed as designed to minimize flood impacts to downstream residents
Campgrounds managed by the Huntington District in portions of West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia will begin opening for the 2011 season in April 2011. Opening dates for these campagrounds vary depending upon location.
