Today, we are going to look and learn about the danger ZONE at Dolly Sods. The danger ZONE is anywhere you find UXO. What are UXO? UneXploded Ordnance UXO are mortars, bullets, etc All UXO are dangerous! During World War II the United States Army used Dolly Sods for target practice. Some of the ammunition, mortar shells, and other UXO are still IN the ground. I would like you to learn the three important rules of UXO safety. If you learn what to do, you can keep friends, family, and yourself safe on your visit here. Spot UXO can be found in many shapes and sizes. UXO can be new or old, shiny or rusty, clean or dirty. Here are some photos to help you spot UXO. Clean, new and shiny UXO. Dirty, old and rusty UXO. Do not touch anything that can be UXO. All UXO can kill or injure.
