In the mid center of the picture you can see a concrete square which is one of the concrete baffels you can see plainly in the 1936 photo. This picture was taken durring the dewatering and cleaning of the stilling basin in March of 2007.

This unusual concrete structure is the Spillway at Pleasant Hill Dam. One of only two built by the U.S.Army Corps of Engineers it is designed to safely drain away excess flood water.

This concrete structure houses the gates that allow control of the lake and river levels.

28. The Morning Glory Spillway in Winter

Note the steam venting from the Morning Glory Spillway. All dams have to have a safe way for excess flood water to get around the dam. The tunnel from this unique spillway joins with the tunnel from the Intake Structure deep underground. The water then flows into the river below the dam.
