In exchange for 'free' camping, reliable and committed volunteers are needed to perform light grounds maintenance, to act as visitor center hosts, and to collect fees from the public as they enter the Stower's Branch Swimming Beach. Campsites include water, sewage and 50 amp electric hook-ups. Laundry facilities are also available free of charge to volunteers. Articles
Alum Creek Lake

The campground, on the west side of the lake, was constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers and is operated by the State Park. There are 289 sites, all with new electrical hook-ups (1999), a picnic table, and a fire ring. Showers, flush toilets, drinking water, a trailer waste station, playground, basketball court and a shelter house are also available as well as a beach and a boat ramp which are exclusively for campground guests. Sites are available on a first come, first served basis. Other camping areas include a Group Camp at the Lewis Center Picnic Area, and camping for horsemen at the Horsemen's Day Use Area/Camp on Howard Road.

Atwood Lake
Camping at Atwood Lake is available through MWCD @ (330)-343-6780 or visit their website @ www.mwcdlakes.com.

Federal Recreation passes such as Golden Age, Golden Access, or America the Beautiful – National Park and Federal Recreation Lands Access Passes are not honored at MWCD facilities, but anyone over the age of 60 or those who have a Golden Buckeye Card receive a 10% discount.

Beach City Lake
There are no camping areas at Beach City Lake.
Beech Fork Lake
Camping at Beech Fork Lake is restricted to developed camping areas at Beech Fork State Park only (25-30 minute drive from Beech Fork Lake and Dam at Lavalette, WV) – there is no random camping. The use of vehicles off authorized roadways is also prohibited. Beech Fork State Park includes a 275 site campground, day use facilities, and adjoining areas operated by the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation. The campground is a fee area.
All of these sites have electrical hookups. Also nearby is a boat launching ramp. For more information call Beech Fork State Park at (304) 528-5794. There web address is http://www.wvparks.com/beechfork.
Bluestone Lake
Camping at Bluestone Lake is restricted to developed camping areas only – there is no random camping. No Federally operated campgrounds are available at Bluestone Lake. Golden Age, Golden Access Passports, and America the Beautiful cards are not accepted. Meador and Old Mill Campgrounds are located at Bluestone State Park. These are class A campgrounds. Bull Falls, Shanklin's Ferry, Cedar Branch, Mouth of Indian Creek, Indian Creek, Bertha and Barton Ridge Campgrounds are primitive campgrounds located on the Bluestone Lake Wildlife Management Area.
Bolivar Dam
There is no camping at Bolivar Dam.
Burnsville Lake
Riffle Run Campground offers 60 sites: 5 three-point hookups (water, sewage, and electric), 49 with electrical hookups, and 6 primitive / tent sites. Shower / restroom facilities, a playground, sewage dump-stations, and fresh water fill-up stations are also located within the campground. Riffle Run campground is on a first come-first serve basis--NO RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED. Bulltown Campground has 204 sites: 196 with electrical hook-ups. Restroom / shower facilities, playgrounds, dump-stations, fresh water fill-up stations, an interpretive shelter that may be reserved by campers for special occasions, and a boat launch ramp are located within the campground. The campsites vary from waterfront to wood lot. To make a reservation at Bulltown Campground, call toll-free 1-877-444-6777 or visit on the internet at www.recreation.gov during peak season.  Bulltown Campground sites during the non-peak season are on a first-come, first-serve basis. 
Charles Mill Lake

The closest camping area to Charles Mill Dam is at Charles Mill Lake Park.  The campground is run by MWCD call them  at (419) 368-6885 or visit their website @ www.mwcdlakes.com.  The new Federal Recreation Pass or any others are not honored at MWCD facilities, but anyone over the age of 60 or those who have a Golden Buckeye Card receive a 10% discount.  Additional information about the federal recreation pass program is available at http://www.recreation.gov/recpass.jsp or by calling 1-888-276-8747 (1-888-ASK USGS).

 

Clendening Lake

Camping at Clendening Lake is available April – October. Delaware Lake
Camping at Delaware Lake is restricted to developed camping areas only – there is not random camping. The campground is a fee area, with sites. Some of these sites have electrical hookups. Also nearby is a boat launching ramp.
Dewey Lake
Camping at Dewey Lake is restricted to developed camping areas only – there is no random camping. The use of vehicles off authorized roadways is prohibited. Jenny Wiley State Resort Park contains one campground, day use facilities such as playground and picnic sites and four boat launching ramps. Contact Jenny Wiley State Resort Park at (606) 889-1790 or (606) 886-2711. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages two separate campgrounds, the Shoreline I and II campgrounds, which are boat accessible only.
Dillon Lake
Camping at Dillon Lake is provided by the State of Ohio; discounts available with the Ohio Buckeye Card. Cabins are available year round. Golden Age and Golden Access Passports are not accepted. For more information you can contact the Dillon State Park Office @ (740) 453-4377.
Dover Dam
No camping facilities are available through the corps at Dover Dam. See http://www.tuscazoar.org/home.htm for nearby facilities.
East Lynn Lake
 
    Camping at East Lynn Lake is available at the East Fork Campground. The campground is a fee area, currently $18.00 to $20.00 depending on site selected. All of these sites have electrical hookups. The campground also provides a sanitary dump station, restrooms with showers, launch ramps, water, laundry tubs, horse shoe pits, nature trail, amphitheater, and playgrounds.

East Fork Campground will open May 8th with areas 1, 2, & 3 available.  Areas 4, 5, and 6 are scheduled to open May 22nd.  Sites may be reserved in areas 1, 3 & 4 by calling 877-444-6777 or on the web at www.recreation.gov.  Areas 2, 5, & 6 have first come first serve sites.

Volunteers Needed

We have available Volunteer Park Host positions which require the volunteer(s) to live in the recreation area and perform the duties to operate a campground or day use recreation area. It is our goal to provide a family oriented camping experience by personally greeting East Lynn Lake visitors in a friendly and courteous manner, and, to promote the safe, responsible use of project facilities and resources, while providing high quality customer service and information.

Work shifts are generally 8 hours a day, 4 days a week and may include evening and/or nighttime hours, split shifts, and will almost always include weekends and holidays.  The Campground Host Volunteers will be provided with a designated, electric and water hook-up campsite for the entire season May through September.

Fishtrap Lake

Fishtrap Lake has one campground located at the Grapevine Recreation Area. Grapevine Grapevine CampsiteCampground has 28 sites, now with 10 sites equipped with water and electrical hookups. Each site has, impacted gravel pads, picnic table, fire ring, and lantern pole. Campground opens Memorial Day Weekend, (Friday of the holiday weekend) and closes the day after Labor Day. No reservations are accepted but to check availability of sites call 1-606-835-4564 to speak with the campground host. Campsites are currently on a first come first serve basis. Camping fees for the 2006 season are $8.00 for primitive and $12.00 for water and electric sites per night per site. Holders of Golden Age/Access Passports are entitled to a 50 % discount. Camping on the shoreline or in the Wildlife Management Area is not permitted except in designated areas.

Grayson Lake

John W. Flannagan Dam & Reservoir
Camping at John W. Flannagan Lake is restricted to developed camping areas only and is prohibited outside of the campgrounds. John W. Flannagan Reservoir has three campgrounds, Lower Twin, Cranesnest Areas #1, #2, and #3 and Pound River Area all operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The three campgrounds combined have a total of 93 sites. Fifteen of these sites have electrical hookups and are located at Lower Twin Campground. Camping fees are charged from mid May through Labor Day.
Leesville Lake

Camping at Leesville Lake is available through the MWCD park.  For more information contact Leesville Park Office @ (330)-343-6780 or visit their website @ www.mwcdlakes.com.  Federal Recreation passes such as Golden Age, Golden Access, or America the Beautiful – National Park and Federal Recreation Lands Access Passes are not honored at MWCD facilities, but anyone over the age of 60 or those who have a Golden Buckeye Card receive a 10% discount.

Mohicanville Lake
There is no camping at Mohicanville Dam.
North Branch of Kokosing River Lake
The Kokosing Lake Campground, located on the banks of Kokosing Lake, is now leased by Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD). It has an associated Picnic and Boat Launch Area. The 42-site campground is designed for tent, trailer and RV camping. The sites all have electricity, water is available at several locations within the campground. A small playground and a vault-type restroom (no running water) is centrally located. There is a new bath house and rest room on the hill over looking the campground. It is fully handicapped accessable and has baby changing stations on both sides. There is a new dump station near the entrance to the campground. Golden Age and Golden Access Passports are no longer accepted at the campground, however, anyone age 60 plus recieves a 10% discount with proof of age and Buckeye Cards are accepted. North Fork of Pound River Lake
There are campgrounds and picnic areas surrounding the lake at Canepatch, Phillips Creek, Hopkins Branch, and Laurel Fork.  These campgrounds are maintained by US Forest Service.
Paint Creek Lake
Campgrounds are located off Taylor Road and are operated by the State Park. The scenic hilltop campground has 199 sites equipped with electricity.
Paintsville Lake
Camping is only available at the Paintsville Lake State Park Campground located near the marina. There are 32 state-of-the-art modern campsites with 50 amp electricity, water and sewer hookups.  10 additional primitive sites have water and a wash house nearby with showers and laundry facilities.
Piedmont Lake

Pleasant Hill Lake

There is no camping at the U.S.Army Corps of Engineer's Pleasant Hill Dam.  Camping is available in MWCD's Pleasant Hill Lake Park, contact them at (419) 938-7884 or visit their website @ www.mwcdlakes.com.  Federal Recreation passes such as Golden Age, Golden Access, or America the Beautiful – National Park and Federal Recreation Lands Access Passes are not honored at MWCD facilities, but anyone over the age of 60 or those who have a Golden Buckeye Card receive a 10% discount.  Additional information about the federal recreation pass program is available at http://www.recreation.gov/recpass.jsp or by calling 1-888-276-8747 (1-888-ASK USGS).

Camping is also available at Mohican State Park campgrounds, for more information call them @ (419) 994-4290.  For those who don’t want to rough it, two miles from Pleasant Hill Dam is Mohican State Park Resort overlooking Pleasant Hill Lake. R.D. Bailey Lake
Spread along a scenic six mile stretch of the Guyandotte River, the campground is divided into four segments, each with restrooms/showers, playgrounds, and nearby trailer dump stations. Both tent and trailer sites have electric hookups. A boat launch ramp is available for campers. All recreational facilities are universally accessible. Camping at R.D. Bailey Lake is restricted to developed camping areas only – there is no random camping. The use of vehicles off authorized roadways is also prohibited. The campgrounds are fee areas, with 94 sites. 90 of these sites have electrical hookups.
Senecaville Lake
Camping at Senecaville Lake is available through MWCD @ (740) 685-6013 or visit their website @ www.mwcdlakes.comFederal Recreation passes such as Golden Age, Golden Access, or America the Beautiful – National Park and Federal Recreation Lands Access Passes are not honored at MWCD facilities, but anyone over the age of 60 or those who have a Golden Buckeye Card receive a 10% discount.

Summersville Lake

Camping at Summersville Lake is restricted to developed camping areas only. Shoreline and random camping is prohibited.

  • Battle Run Campground

    • 2 shower houses with washers and dryers
    • Pets are prohibited
    • Campground is open May 1 until Columbus Day
    • All campsites at Battle Run are reservable from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day. Reservations can be made by dialing 1-877-444-NRRS or on the web at www.recreation.gov
    • Before Memorial Day Weekend and after Labor Day the campground is operated on a "first come first serve" basis

  • Mountain Lake Campground
    • Privately operated facility, is located at the north end of the lake. 
Sutton Lake
Campsites at Sutton Lake are available at Gerald R. Freeman Campground, Bakers Run Campground, and Bee Run Campground. Gerald R. Freeman Campground, with 159 sites, and Bakers Run Campground, with 79 sites, are Class A areas, with heated shower houses, dump stations, water fountains, playgrounds, boat launch ramps, and some electric hook-ups. Gerald R. Freeman Campground also has a small marina. Sites are usually available on a first – come first- serve basis. Gerald R. Freeman Campground does accept reservations. Reservations can be made by calling 1-877-444-6777 or by clicking on the link Gerald R. Freeman Camp. Bee Run Campground is a primitive area, with limited facilities. Gerald R. Freeman and Bee Run Campgrounds open in late May and close after deer season, in early December. Baker's Run Campground opens in late May and closes in mid to late October. Tappan Lake

Tom Jenkins Dam
Camping Is prohibited at the dam site. Camping is available at the State Park or U.S. Forest Service Campgrounds located near the dam site.
Wills Creek Lake
There are no camping facilities available at Wills Creek Lake.
Yatesville Lake
A sixty site campground is located at Pleasant Ridge (State Route 3215). Of the sixty sites, fifteen are boat accessible only. With the exception of the boat accessible sites, all other sites have water and electric. A dump station is available for use. The campground is managed by the Kentucky Department of Parks. For questions regarding the campground, contact the Yatesville Lake State Park Campground at (606) 673-1490.
Deer Creek Lake
Contact the Deer Creek State Park Campground at 740-869-3508. The Campground is on road # 21, located off of Waterloo Rd.
