The Huntington District Housing Team Responds to Hurricane Florence
The LRH Emergency Management team are working closely with FEMA and Wilmington District to aid in hurricane relief efforts. FEMA, in coordination with USACE have overhauled the previously laborious and more expensive method of installing mobile homes for personnel that were left homeless. The new process involves purchasing existing stock (new) recreational homes (travel trailers) and installing them on site. These units are easier to procure and transport, faster to install and locate the storm victim closer to their former residence ultimately promoting a sense of community and security while allowing easier access to assist in repairs to their home.
