  • Army Corps of Engineers to use one website for volunteer opportunities in 2020

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that beginning Jan. 1, 2020, the agency’s Volunteer Clearinghouse website will no longer be operational. All future volunteer opportunities at USACE-managed recreation areas will be posted to only the federal interagency website www.volunteer.gov.

  • Sutton Lake to Temporarily Lower Winter Pool Level

    SUTTON, W.Va. - - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Sutton Lake will temporarily lower the winter pool level an additional 30 feet (to elevation 865 feet) for two weeks beginning Dec. 1, 2019, to complete a required maintenance dive of the dam.

  • Corps of Engineers to Host Open Office Hours to Answer Questions About Bluestone Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is holding open office hours for anyone interested in meeting with key representatives from the Bluestone Dam Safety Assurance team and ask questions. The team will be available on Thursday, October 3, 2019, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Resident Engineer Construction Office. This office is located directly south of Bluestone Dam off State Route 20 in a fenced lot. There will not be any formal presentations, but representatives will be available to update the status of the project and take any questions anyone might have.

  • Maintenance at Robert C. Byrd Locks Limits Recreational Lockages

    Huntington, W.Va. – Maintenance planned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, will limit recreational boat lockages at the Robert C. Byrd Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Gallipolis, Ohio, beginning Aug. 19, 2019, and continuing until Sept. 30, 2019.

  • Pike County Flood Risk Management Meeting on Aug. 1

    Huntington, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a meeting on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for Pike County area officials and emergency management personnel to examine roles during an emergency and their response to a major flood simulation.

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has determined that conditions exist in the outlet works area at Leesville Lakes in Bowerston, Ohio, and Atwood Lake in Mineral City, Ohio, that could result in the presence and possible release of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gases.
