“Safety on the Blue” Event Opens to the Public Aug. 6 at Bluestone Lake

HUNTINGTON, W.VA. –  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in conjunction with the West Virginia Water Festival will host the 13th Annual “Safety on the Blue” celebration to promote water safety at Bluestone Lake on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bluestone Bridge Parking Lot (Pit Area) near the launch ramp.


The free event combines family fun with safety tips and will include games, music, a casting contest, a children’s coloring contest, and hands-on water safety demonstrations. There will also be special life jacket and other water safety equipment giveaways. Also, popular characters such as Corey the Boat and Bobber the Water Safety Dog will be on hand.


“Safety on the Blue” is presented by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the “Safety on the Blue” Committee, in coordination with the West Virginia Water Festival, National Park Service, and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
