R. D. Bailey Outdoor Adventure and Safety Fair, Sept. 30

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announces an Outdoor Adventure and Safety Fair at RD Bailey Lake, Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Guyandotte Point Recreation Area. 


All activities being contributed by our partners will fall under the categories of safety, outdoor recreation, or nature/natural resources. Partners who are planning on having attend and topics/activities:


*West Virginia Division of Forestry - Wild land fire safety and prevention (with Smokey the Bear and a wild land fire truck)

*Main Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department - Fire safety (with interactive fire safety trailer)

*Hanover/Coal Mountain Volunteer Fire Departments - Fire safety (with fire trucks)

*Southern West Virginia Kayak Anglers - Recreational kayaking information and kayak safety (with display of kayak styles and gear and safety demonstrations)

*Larry Joe Harless Community Center - Water safety/certified swim instructor and water safety activities

*West Virginia Muzzleloaders Association - Cultural/Historical - Historical black powder, muzzleloader, and Tomahawk display and safety demonstrations (no ammunition, but may do black powder firing demonstrations)

*Three Rivers Avian Center - Nature - Live birds of prey display and information on West Virginia birds

*Cranberry Mountain Nature Center - Nature - Live snake display and information on West Virginia snakes

*Uncle Sam's - Recreational kids fishing demonstrations and youth archery safety (with kid-friendly youth archery activity)

*Cabela's - Hunting and fishing safety and recreation (with casting skills challenge, youth archery activity and inflatable BB gun range)

*West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Natural Resources Police - ATV safety, hunting safety (with interactive hunting educational safety trailer) 

*West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources - Nature - animal tracks/animal jeopardy kids game

*U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bluestone Lake - Bobber the dog water safety trailer and water safety activity and watershed demonstration exhibit

*Wyoming County Health Department (Environmental Health and hand out bottle water)
