Additional Public Meeting on Bluestone Dam Construction in Hinton

Published May 17, 2019

HUNTINGTON, W.Va… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting to discuss how upcoming repair work at Bluestone Dam will affect project operations on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at 6 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Kanawha County Public Library at 123 Capitol Street in Charleston, W.Va.

Employees from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide a presentation and host a question-and-answer session on how Bluestone Lake will be operated during the next phase of construction and the effects of this operation on the lake and downstream.

The next phase of construction is an upgrade of the outflow stilling basin to meet present day engineering standards. The stilling basin is the area immediately downriver from outflow gates in the dam. An adjustment to operations is necessary during construction as only half of the basin will be available to release water.
