Recent Storm Closes Some Corps Recreation Venues

Huntington, W.Va. – The severe storm that moved through the region Friday caused varying degrees of damage to many Huntington District recreation facilities. Some camp grounds and marinas have experienced the loss of electrical and basic hygiene facilities. These outages have caused some facilities to close until services are restored. The Corps of Engineers is working with local utility services to reopen the facilities as soon as possible.

Anyone currently staying at campsites will not be forced to leave unless the Corps needs to close the facility for public health or safety. No new arrivals will be allowed until repairs are made. Anyone with a reservation for a campsite should go to: http://www.recreation.gov/ to check to see if your reservation has been affected.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is the largest provider of water-based outdoor recreation in the nation.
