Alum Creek Dam to Host Public Tours

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Alum Creek Lake in Lewis Center, Ohio, will host public tours of the dam on Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. 

The dam tour will start in the Below Dam Recreation Area. Park Rangers will meet each group, and the tour will proceed up 116 steps to the top of the dam. Each tour will last about 30 minutes. 

Rangers will explain why and how the dam was built and how it impacts the local area. The tour is free and if anyone has special needs or needs to make arrangements for alternate access to the top of the dam, please call the park office prior to the tour date at 740-548-6151.

The Alum Creek Lake Visitor Center is open daily from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The center is open to the public and features interactive exhibits, area information and nature movies.
