Bridge to Close Temporarily at R.D. Bailey Lake

Huntington, W.Va.  –  The Coal Mountain Bridge at R.D. Bailey Lake near Justice, W.Va., will be closed temporarily starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014. It will reopen at 6 a.m. on Friday, July 18.

The Coal Mountain Bridge is used to access the Guyandotte Point Recreation Area which includes the launch ramp, Shelter #2, access to the Long Branch Overlook and various access points. It is being closed for repairs by the West Virginia Department of Highways.

During this closure, access to these areas will be available by Charlie Hatfield Road, which is County Route 6.  It is a narrow and winding road that can be accessed via WV Route 971, which travels from Oceana to Baileysville. 

Access to Big Branch Day Use Area and Shelter #1 should not be affected by this closure.
