HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Burnsville Lake in Burnsville, W.Va., will hold an open house free to the public on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will include tours of the dam by staff and volunteers at Burnsville. To go on the tour, adults must present a photo ID (such as a driver’s license), and no cameras, cell phones or bags are allowed. The tour groups will meet at the dam office.
There will be historic presentations at the dam about the Bulltown area, and water safety programs for children. The mascots Bobber, the Water Safety Dog and Corey, the Water Safety Boat will greet the kids.
Also taking part in the event are representatives from the Department of Natural Resources, local law enforcement, and fire and rescue squads.
