Louisa, KY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Yatesville Lake in Louisa, Ky., is inviting volunteers to take part in the Sixth Annual Spring Cleanup on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 9 a.m. until noon.
The Corps of Engineers has teamed up with the Friends of Yatesville Lake and the Lawrence County Fiscal Court to carry on the tradition of environmental responsibility and to preserve the inherent beauty of the lake for all to enjoy.
Over 300,000 visitors come to Yatesville Lake each year to participate in a wide range of outdoor recreational activities. Keeping the lake and surrounding areas litter-free serves to benefit visitors as well as the local community.
Individuals and groups are encouraged to participate. Volunteers may bring a boat and work from it. The group will meet at the Lawrence County Park Shelter No. 3 at 9 a.m. for check-in and directions. Trash bags, gloves, and safety vests will be provided. Volunteers will reconvene at the picnic shelter at 11:30 a.m. for a complimentary lunch, which will be provided by local sponsors.
