Corps Temporarily Closes Cranesnest Road at Flannagan Lake

Published March 13, 2015

Clintwood, Va. - Due to recent flooding the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at John W. Flannagan Dam in Clintwood, Va. will close Cranesnest Road.  It's the access road to the Cranesnest Campground, a trout-stocked stream and a launch ramp.

The road will be closed until repairs can be made - damages make it unsafe to travel at this time. Trout will not be stocked in the Cranesnest River until it is reopened.  At this time there is not an estimate on when repairs will be completed.

The Corps property around John W. Flannagan Dam had several areas affected by flooding including the campgrounds.  At this time the damage is being assessed and plans for repairs are being made.
