Alum Creek Dam to Offer Public Tours May 31

HUNTINGTON, W.Va – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Alum Creek Dam in Lewis Center, Ohio, will offer tours to the public at 11 a.m. on May 31, 2015.

The tour is being offered as part of National Dam Safety Awareness Day.

To take the tour, the public is invited to meet at the bulletin board (by the restroom building) in the Alum Creek Lake Below Dam Area at 11 a.m.  The Below Dam area is accessed from Lewis Center Road. 

Park Rangers will conduct the tour, which will involve walking up the 106 steps to the top of the dam. The rangers will discuss why and how the dam was built, how the dam is operated and the benefits the dam brings to the local area. Cameras are not permitted.

Anyone requiring attention for special needs should call in advance at (740) 548-6151. No reservation is required to attend this free public event.
