HUNTINGTON, W.Va – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, announces that it will be increasing the fees to make reservations for group picnic shelters for dates in 2016. These increases do not apply to any reservations dates in 2015.
The increases will apply to 14 of the 16 lakes where shelters are managed by the Huntington District. The standard daily cost for reserving a shelter in 2016 and beyond will be $70 for a shelter without electricity and $80 for a shelter with electricity, with a few exceptions as listed below. Group picnic shelter reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance of the reservation date by contacting the National Recreation Reservation System (NRRS) at 877-444-6777 or at recreation.gov .
“The reservation fee increases are necessary in order for the Corps to provide fair competition with other public and private group shelter providers within the market areas of each of our lakes,” said John Nichol, Park Ranger.
