Sutton Dam to Offer Public Tours

HUNTINGTON, W.Va – Sutton Dam has been busy in recent months, holding back rainfall to try to reduce flooding along the Elk River.

Now the public can get a closer look at the dam operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Sutton, W.Va., as tours of the dam will be offered to the public on Sunday, July 26, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Members of the community are invited to learn more about the role of Sutton Dam in their community as well as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers management and maintenance of the Dam. Tours will begin at the top of the dam.  

The tours involve some walking and stairs, and will last approximately 30 minutes. Adults must provide a government-issued photo ID, and children must be accompanied by an adult.  Cameras, purses, or other bags are not permitted in Sutton Dam.
