Summersville and Sutton Lake Campgrounds Temporarily Closed

Published July 16, 2015

HUNTINGTON, W.Va – Recent heavy rainfall has raised both Summersville and Sutton Lakes in West Virginia above the normal summer pool elevation, forcing the temporary closure of some of the campgrounds and recreation areas at each location.

At Summersville Lake, Salmon Run, Battle Run boat ramps and beach area, and Battle Run campsites 74-94 are closed.

At Sutton Lake, Gerald R. Freeman campground, Bakers Run campground, Bee Run Day Use Area and the South Abutment are closed. Bee Run Campground is the only campground open at Sutton.

Once the waters recede and repairs and cleanup are completed, the recreation areas will be reopened.
