Sutton Lake Campgrounds Update

Published July 21, 2015

HUNTINGTON, W.Va – Recent heavy rainfall raised Sutton Lake in Sutton, W.Va., above the normal summer pool elevation, forcing the temporary closure of some of the campgrounds and recreation areas.

The Gerald R. Freeman Campground will reopen Thursday, July 23, 2015. Some sites and areas of the campground are still covered in mud, so some campsites will not be available. Campers with reservations may be required to move to a different campsite. All campers should coordinate with the entrance station Park Attendants to determine which campsite best suits their needs. To contact the entrance station call 304-765-7756.

The county road to Bakers Run Campground is being repaired by the West Virginia Department of Highways.  Due to the significant road damage, there is no definite time frame as to when the road will be open to traffic.

The Bee Run Day Use Area is open.

For more information, call the Sutton Lake office at 304-765-2816.
