HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, is holding a Section 202 non-structural flood proofing contractors meeting 7 p.m., March 31, 2016 at the McDowell County Commission Office, 109 Wyoming St., Welch, W.Va. in the first floor conference room to inform local contractors of upcoming Section 202 non-structural flood proofing work and the requirements specified by regulations.
This type of mitigation work pertains to the construction and modifications of foundations to reduce flooding impacts to residential and commercial structures in McDowell Co. Program guidelines and regulations will be discussed in detail to inform potential contractors of work specifications and requirement’s. This work will consist of but not limited to new residential construction, commercial structure rehabilitation and elevating structures in the floodplain.
The McDowell County Commission serves as the non-Federal sponsor and provides the operation and maintenance requirements and is responsible for enforcement of floodplain ordinances in the project area. The point of contact for the McDowell County Commission is Judy Heath at 304-436-8558.
