Sutton Dam to Host Tours

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Sutton Lake in Sutton, W.Va., will be offering public tours of Sutton Dam on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Visitors will learn more about the history of the dam, how Corps lakes are operated, and how the dam was operated during the recent high water event. 

Adults must show a government-provided photo ID (like a driver’s license) in order to participate in a tour. Cameras, bags, pocket books, and other bulky items are not permitted in the dam, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Tours are only open to American citizens. Groups over 10 may call the project office to arrange a “special request tour” at another time.
