Bluestone Dam to Host “Safety on the Blue” Water Safety Event on Aug. 7

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Safety on the Blue Committee will host the 12th Annual “Safety on the Blue” celebration to promote water safety at Bluestone Lake on Aug. 7, 2016. Registration begins at noon. and the program begins at 1 p.m and concludes at 4 p.m. This year’s event will be held at Bellepoint Park.

The free event combines family fun with safety tips and will include games, live music, a casting contest, a children’s coloring contest, life jacket and other water safety equipment giveaways, and hands-on water safety demonstrations. Also, for the kids, popular characters such as Corey the Boat and Bobber the Water Safety Dog will be on hand.

“Safety on the Blue” is presented by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the “Safety on the Blue” Committee, in coordination with the West Virginia Water Festival, National Park Service, and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
