HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, has issued the 2016 Whitewater schedule of releases for the Summersville (Gauley River) and John W. Flannagan Lakes (Russell Fork River). The releases are made in conjuction with the normal drawdown of the associated reservoir to its Winter pool. The releases are considered by whitewater enthusiasts who frequent the Gauley and Russell Fork Rivers to be optimal times for whitewater related activities.
Summersville Lake scheduled release dates, times and target flow rates are:

Sept. 16 - 19 7am – 1pm 6am – 3pm 6am – 3pm 7am – 2pm 2800 cfs
Sept. 23 - 26 7am – 1pm 6am – 2pm 6am – 2pm 7am – 1pm 2800 cfs
Sept. 30 - Oct. 3 7am – 1pm 6am – 2pm 6am – 2pm 7am – 1pm 2800 cfs
Oct. 7 - 10 7am – 1pm 6am – 2pm 6am – 2pm 7am – 1pm 2800 cfs
Oct. 15 - 16 -- 6am – 2pm 6am – 2pm -- 2800 cfs
Gauley Fest is scheduled for Sept. 17 - 18. An extra hour of release is scheduled for Sept. 17 - 19.
Bridge Day is Oct. 15.
