HUNTINGTON, W.VA. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct non-destructive testing at Greenup Locks and Dam over the next three months as part of routine maintenance. This testing will require the occasional closure of the eastbound lane of Kentucky Route 10/Ohio State Route 253 on the Jesse Stuart Memorial Bridge for approximately 12 weeks beginning Monday, Nov. 1, 2016.
The one lane closures will be required for non-destructive testing on the navigation dam below. There are 3 expected closure periods with each closure lasting approximately 2 weeks. The first closure period is expected to begin Monday, November 7, 2016.
The Jesse Stuart Memorial Bridge is a viaduct on top of the Greenup Locks and Dam on the Ohio River. The bridge, named after author and Greenup County, Kentucky native Jesse Stuart, was completed in 1984 and carries Kentucky Route 10 from the AA Highway/U.S. Route 23 intersection to the bridge itself, where it becomes State Route 253 to U.S. Route 52.
