  • Public Safety Reminder Regarding Cliff Diving

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to remind the public that cliff jumping/diving at all Huntington District managed lakes remains strictly prohibited. These lakes are as follows: Alum Creek, Deer Creek, Delaware, Dillon, North Branch of Kokosing and Paint Creek Lakes in Ohio; Beech Fork, Bluestone, Burnsville, East Lynn, R.D. Bailey, Summersville, and Sutton Lakes in West Virginia; Dewey, Fishtrap, Grayson, Paintsville and Yatesville Lakes in Kentucky; and John W. Flannagan in Virginia.

  • Summersville Dam to Celebrate 50 Years of Service on Aug. 19

    The Summersville Dam in Summersville, W.Va., will host a special ceremony Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. to observe the 50th Anniversary and Rededication of the projected built and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District.

  • Summersville Campgrounds Reopen

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Summersville Lake experienced its second highest lake pool of record on June 25, 2016. While cleanup and repair efforts continue, here’s the status of the recreation areas at Summersville: * Battle Run Campground will reopen for walk-in camping Friday, July 29. Reservations can be made for August 1 through September 5 at www.recreation.gov, or call 877-444-6777. * Battle Run Beach will reopen Saturday, July 30. * All other recreation areas and facilities are open to the public. This includes the Long Point Marina boat ramp and restroom, Salmon Run boat ramp and restroom, Battle Run boat ramps and restroom, Damsite Picnic Area and overlooks. * Muddlety Kayak/Canoe Launch Facility will remain closed for the season.   • Summersville and Sutton Lake Campgrounds Update

    Recent heavy rainfall raised both Summersville and Sutton Lakes in West Virginia above the normal summer pool elevation, forcing the temporary closure of some of the campgrounds and recreation areas at each location. As both lakes return to their normal summer pool levels, those sites are being opened.

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va – Recent heavy rainfall has raised both Summersville and Sutton Lakes in West Virginia above the normal summer pool elevation, forcing the temporary closure of some of the campgrounds and recreation areas at each location.
