  • Summersville Lake Update for Tuesday, July 5, 2016

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Summersville Lake continues efforts to get the recreation areas open to the public. Here are the latest updates: - The Long Point Marina boat ramp is open for boater and marina traffic. The restroom is closed; portable toilets are available. - Salmon Run boat ramp and restrooms are open to the public. - The lake is open for boating. Muddlety Cove near Rt. 39 Bridge is closed. Boaters should use caution to avoid floating driftwood and debris. - Battle Run boat ramps will re-open as soon as flood cleanup work is completed. - The Battle Run Campground and beach will remain closed until further notice. - Muddlety Kayak/Canoe Launch Facility will remain closed until further notice. - The Damsite Picnic Area and overlooks are open. The lake and recreation areas will re-open as quickly as possible. Restrooms, water systems and electricity will remain closed until they can be put back into service.     HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The US Army Corps of Engineers at Summersville Lake experienced the second highest lake pool of record on June 25, 2016. The recreation areas at Summersville have flooded and are being repaired.
  • Potential Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) concern at Atwood and Leesville Lakes

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has determined that conditions exist in the outlet works area at Atwood Lake in Mineral City, Ohio, and Leesville Lakes in Bowerston, Ohio, that could result in the presence and possible release of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gases.

  • Pleasant Hill Dam to Offer Public Tours on July 23

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Pleasant Hill Dam in Perrysville, Ohio, will offer tours to the public on July 23, 2016, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. To take the tour, the public is invited to meet at the intake structure (next to the water safety tent) at 1041 County Road 3006 in Perrysville. Tours leave on the hour and include a walk to the bottom of the dam and inside the intake structure. Visitors will learn why and how the dam was built, how it’s operated and the benefits the project brings to the local area. No reservation is required to attend this free public event, but adults must bring identification (such as a driver’s license), and photography is not permitted.     The US Army Corps of Engineers announces its Eighth Annual Kids Fishing Day will be held June 4, 2016 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Yatesville Lake State Park Marina shelter. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reopened the marina at East Lynn Lake in East Lynn, W.Va. The marina was closed temporarily in September 2015, and the marina reopened on Thursday, May 19, 2016.
