  • “Rake the Lake” Planned at Sutton Lake

    Every spring, a growing group of volunteers come to Sutton Lake in Sutton, W.Va., for the “Rake the Lake” Cleanup. This year it is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., with a picnic at 3 p.m.
  • Cleanup Planned at Beech Fork Lake

    Volunteers are invited to take part in the annual Beech Fork Lake cleanup in Lavalette, W.Va., on April 9, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
  • Cleanup Planned at East Lynn Lake

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The annual cleanup for East Lynn Lake is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2016. Volunteers are invited to assist U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees in beautification efforts at the lake, including trash pickup on the shore and surrounding public use areas.

  • Entrance to Meldahl Hydroelectric Closure

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, announces the closure of the entrance to the Meldahl Hydroelectric Facility near Kentucky Route 8 (West Mary Ingles Highway), Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The closure of the Meldahl entrance is necessary to make repairs to the Rail Road crossing.

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, is holding a Section 202 non-structural flood proofing contractors meeting 7 p.m., March 31, 2016 at the McDowell County Commission Office, 109 Wyoming St., Welch, W.Va. in the first floor conference room to inform local contractors of upcoming Section 202 non-structural flood proofing work and the requirements specified by regulations.
  • Fishtrap Lake Temporarily Lowered

    The lake level at Fishtrap Lake at Shelbiana, Ky., will be temporarily lowered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, on March 10, 2016, to perform routine maintenance and inspection.
  • Huntington District Announces 2016 Campground Schedule

    Campgrounds managed by the Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in portions of West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia will begin opening for the 2016 season in April. Opening dates at Corps-managed campgrounds will vary depending on location.

    Today Col. Philip Secrist, Commander, Huntington District, presented awards for several significant achievements by members of the district at a Town Hall and Award Ceremony held at the Huntington City Hall Auditorium.
