  • Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees at recreation areas in observance of Veterans Day

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,850 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of Veterans Day, November 11.
  • East Lynn Lake Campground to Close Oct. 1

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that the campground at East Lynn Lake in East Lynn, WV, will be closing for the season at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021. Campers will have until 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 1 to check out and have all campers and personal belongings out of the campground.
  • Corps of Engineers Welcome Applications to Lease Marina at Fishtrap Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is now welcoming applications to lease the commercial marina site at Fishtrap Lake at Shelbiana, Ky. The Notice of Availability for Leasing is for the potential marina facility located in the Dam Site Recreation Area on Fishtrap Road at US 460. The site will be leased on a competitive basis to the individual or corporation presenting the best plan for development. The area will be open for inspection on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Representatives will be on site to answer questions.
  • Virtual Public Meeting Notice for Beech Fork Lake and East Lynn Lake Regional Master Plan

    You are invited to participate in a public meeting regarding the US Army Corps of Engineers’ preparation of a Regional Master Plan Update for Beech Fork and East Lynn Lakes.  The purpose of the meeting is to obtain public input on the preliminary resource objectives and recommendations that have been drafted.  A master plan is the strategic land use management document that guides the management and development of all recreational, natural, and cultural resources of the projects.  
  • Corps of Engineers to Offer Buchanan County Public Open House in Grundy, VA

    Two public meetings to provide information about the Buchanan County Section 202 Flood Risk Management project will be offered in October by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, in coordination with the Buchanan County Board of Supervisors.
  • USACE hosting virtual workshops for Ohio River Lock and Dams Master Plan Update

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hereby informs the public of the initiation process to update the Regional Master Plan for six of the locks and dams located on the Ohio River. USACE defines a Master Plan as the strategic land use document that guides the comprehensive management and development of all recreational, natural, and cultural resources throughout the life of the water resource development projects. The master plans are a vital tool produced and used by USACE to guide the responsible stewardship of USACE-administered lands and resources for the benefit of present and future generations. Master Plans do not address the specifics of regional water quality, shoreline management or water level management, nor do they include changes to operation and maintenance of project operation facilities, navigation, or hydropower functions.

  • Huntington District Changes Command on July 15

    Huntington, W.Va. --- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, conducted a change of command ceremony as Col. Jason Evers transferred command of the District to Col. Jayson Putnam. The ceremony was presided over by Col. Kimberly A. Peeples, Commander of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The ceremony took place at the Huntington City Hall Auditorium at 805 Fifth Avenue at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021.
  • Fishtrap Lake Marina Closing

    Huntington, W.Va. --- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, has determined that the marina at Fishtrap Lake in Shelbiana, Ky., is unsafe for public use. The marina has been closed and is being removed from the lake.
