​Huntington District Operations team members participated in the Joint Inland Waterways Association meeting located in Marietta, Ohio. This meeting combines navigation industry representatives from the Huntington Waterways Association and the Pittsburgh Waterways Association.

Huntington District Operations team members participated in the Joint Inland Waterways Association meeting located in Marietta, Ohio. This meeting combines navigation industry representatives from the Huntington Waterways Association and the Pittsburgh Waterways Association. The meeting discussed items involving navigation concerns for mariners across the Alleghany, Monongahela, Kanawha and Ohio Rivers. This area covers 32 Locks and Dams, and almost 1000 river miles of the nation's inland waterway. Guest speaker Herschel "Woody" Williams  is the recipient of Medal of Honor of valor during World War II battle of Iwo Jima. He and two young soldiers are the only living Medal of Honor recipients from that war. In addition, he is the only surviving Marine to have received the Medal of honor during the second World War, and is the only surviving Medal of Honor recipient from the Pacific theater of the war. The meeting was attended by United States Coast Guard Huntington, United States Coast Guard Pittsburgh, United States Army Corps of Engineers Huntington, and United States Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh.
