Chippewa Lake Amusement Park Wetlands Restoration

Colonel Jason Evers, Mike Keathley, and Lee Robinette travelled to Medina, Ohio to meet with Congressman Anthony Gonzales and the Director of the Medina County Park District (MCPD), Nate Eppink to discuss wetlands restoration and algal bloom mitigation at the old Chippewa Lake Amusement Park. The MCPD recently acquired the abandoned amusement park that closed in 1978 and has become an overgrown eyesore. The MCPD plans to turn the old park into a public space complete with walking trails. The Regulatory Division is working with them on permitting and advising them on the project. The plan calls for incorporating some of the abandoned rides, removal of old water lines and debris removal. Colonel Evers, Mike Keathley and Lee Robinette also took the opportunity to update Congressman Gonzales on the Huntington District Civil Works Program and Regulatory operations in Ohio.
