Park Ranger’s, Justine Smith and Alice Hall, hosted an interpretive nature hike with 140 Kindergartener’s from Russell Independent Schools. Children learned the importance of environmental stewardship through ‘Leave No Trace for Every Kid’ Principles. ‘Leave No Trace for Every Kid’ is a program that helps young people learn how responsible actions can help protect the outdoors. The initiative is shaped and inspired by the rich diversity of young people and their communities that have found joy, discovery and learning through the outdoors. The end of the hike led to a state record sycamore tree that is known to be over 200 years old!
