The annual Kid’s Fishing Tournament was held June 7, 2014, at Lick Creek Pond at East Lynn Lake in East Lynn, W.Va.
According to Park Ranger Jay Davis, "There were 54 kids who registered for the fishing tournament which began at 9:30 a.m. and lasted until 11:30 a.m. Kids and parents alike had a lot of fun, with the kids catching a total of 162 fish."
Prizes were awarded to the following tournament winners:
Age group 3 years old and under:
Most fish – Raven Robinson – 4 fish caught
Smallest fish – Raven Robinson – 4 inch
Largest fish – Cody Robertson – 7 inch
Age group 4 to 6 years old:
Most fish – Nicholas Savage – 11 fish caught
Smallest fish – Nicholas Savage – 4 inch
Largest fish – Brock Brown – 11 inch
Age group 7 to 11 years old:
Most fish – Allison Watts – 15 fish caught
Smallest fish – Allison Watts – 3 ½ inch
Largest fish – Jacob Clark – 13 ¼ inch
Age group 12 to 15 years old:
Most fish – Trenton Dean - 8 fish caught
Smallest fish – Trenton Dean – 5 inch
Largest fish – Hunter Evans – 13 ½ inch
Refreshments, lunch and prizes were provided by the Wayne Wal-Mart, which has sponsored the fishing event for 14 consecutive years.
Event sponsors included: Wal-Mart of Wayne, McDonalds of Lavalette, Wendy’s, and the Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
