On Saturday, September 26, 2015 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Paintsville Kiwanis, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Carl D. Perkins Job Corps and Jenny Wiley State Park met at Terry Boat Ramp to launch boats and perform a debris sweep on Dewey Lake.
Volunteers faced steady rain showers and chilly temperatures for most of the 5 hour event. Despite the adverse weather, 11 volunteers were able to remove 47 bags of trash and a dozen miscellaneous items from the shoreline.
The event began at 9 am. Lunch was provided by McDonald’s of East Kentucky. Bottled water was provided by the Floyd County Rescue Squad. We would like to thank WSIP, WMJD and K-Lite for their promotional services. And, of course, a special \ thank you to the volunteers who showed their commitment, support and appreciation to their public lands.
