The Veterans Committee for Civic Improvement of Huntington, an organization of 14 veterans organization in the Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia Tri-State area presented its annual Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony. Colonel Secrist was both the Parade Marshall and the featured speaker.
The parade route passed through the western section of Huntington and ended at the Huntington Veterans Memorial where the ceremony was held. The ceremony included speeches by Huntington's Mayor Williams, representatives of the Veterans Administration Medical Center and Regional Office, a representative from Congressman Jenkins' Office, Medal of Honor recipient Hershel "Woody" Williams and Colonel Secrist.
