General Information
Senecaville Lake Project, located in the southeast corner of Guernsey County and the northeast corner of Noble County, Ohio, is one of a system of projects designed to provide flood control and water conservation in the Muskingum Watershed in southeastern Ohio. The project is 1.4 miles upstream of the town of Senecaville and twenty-one miles upstream ofCambridge, Ohio. Senecaville Lake forms a conservation pool for flood control, recreation, fish and wildlife, and for the maintenance of normal downstream flows during dry periods. The Dam is separated into two embankment sections, North and South, by a rock knoll, through which the outlet works is located and across a low dike constructed section. Both embankments are rolled impervious fill with a downstream rock shell. Maximum height of the embankment is 49 feet. The total crest length is 2,350 feet. There is also a Ohio Department of Natural Resources fish hatchery located below Senecaville Dam. The hatchery is open to visitors from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will accommodate tour groups with advanced reservations. Restrooms are provided at the Public Rest Area, located at the north end of the dam, which is open year around.
Fourth of July Fireworks on the Lake take place on the closest Saturday night to the fourth; it is advised to call the Senecaville Lake Park Office to confirm @ (740) 685-6013. The Fireworks will be set off from the Big Island.
Handicapped Access
There are no universal access facilities available at this Corps of Engineers facility.

There are no significant historical or cultural areas present at Senecaville Lake Dam.

Bicycling
Bicycles are permitted on the state highways.
Boating
A Public Launch ramp for the boating enthusiasts and fishermen is available near the Senecaville Lake Dam year round. Horsepower limit at Senecaville Lake is 299hp. For all boating inquiries contact Seneca Lake Marina @ (740) 685-5831.
Camping
Camping at Senecaville Lake is available through MWCD @ (740) 685-6013 or visit their website @ http://www.mwcd.org/ Federal Recreation passes such as Golden Age, Golden Access, or America the Beautiful - National Park and Federal Recreation Lands Access Passes are not honored at MWCD facilities, but anyone over the age of 60 or those who have a Golden Buckeye Card receive a 10% discount.

Fishing
At the dam site you can fish above and below the dam. Fishing is popular all around the lake where ever there is a way to get to the water! Also boats can be rented at the marina.
Hiking
Limited hiking is available around Senecaville Lake Dam. A more extensive hiking trail system is available within Seneca Lake Park. For more information contact Senecaville Lake Park Office @ (740) 685-6013, five days a week, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Horseback Riding
There are no designated horseback riding trails around Senecaville Lake.
Hunting
No Hunting on Corps of Engineers facility. MWCD has several acres of Public Hunting around the Lake. For maps of the Public Hunting areas, contact the Seneca Lake Park Office at (740)685-6013.
Marina
There is one marina located on the lake, which is operated by private enterprise. For all boating inquiries contact Seneca Lake Marina @ (740) 685-5831.
Picnicking

Swimming
No swimming areas are available at this project. MWCD has designated two swimming areas (one is within the park & one is by boat access). For more information contact Seneca Lake Park Office @ (740) 685-6013.
Visitor Center
No visitor center is available at this project. MWCD has an Activity Center within its park. This facility provides day to day information on campground activities and current events.
